This morning I relocated a Toad that was trapped. I put the Toad under some trees that I knew had a water source and where other Toads frequent. The area nearby was once habitat that was razed to make way for a housing estate.
Habitat loss by this culture that over populates, over consumes and over represents itself continues on a blind runaway ruinous march of death for non-humans and humans alike. This culture is trapped by its own negative, life-denying and erroneous assumptions and beliefs that have been passed through generations for thousands of years and has cocooned them leaving them as it’s sole source of reference to explain the world beyond. The indoctrination of this cultures values are powerful tools that keep us enslaved to it’s agenda. However we can change this outlook if we begin to explore the workings of the Universe and a whole new way of looking at life begins to emerge.
Nature is performing tiny miracles every single moment that most never appreciate or even remotely contemplate. Nature performs a miraculous magic show every second of the day, even in our own bodies that is enthralling and enchanting and it’s here where we can gain personal strength and escape this cultures strangulating besiegement of our souls. Nature can open our hearts and minds and once our hearts are open and connected to all life we can begin to heal both ourselves and be of service to our kin of flora and fauna.
It is easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the apathy and the virulent hostility this culture displays toward the natural world however even the smallest acts of kindness and connection make a difference for those involved. We need to look with eyes that feel, hearts that love and take actions that are compassionate and life affirming. By the tiniest acts of benevolence to other creatures we open ourselves to the divinity in Nature. We open our hearts to the Universe and we give recognition, respect and honour to the billions of years it has taken for those in need to have evolved to this point and to acknowledge and connect to the sacred within that creature. Every act of selflessness toward another being however small you may think it is becomes a statement of love and respect for that creature and the Universe as a whole. It is also an unconsciousness identification of the divinity that dwells within all Nature.
In these dark days most creatures need a helping hand. This culture has built human centered prisons around, under and over them and they become trapped by the towering manifestations of this cultures over inflated ego. Giving safety to a misplaced or lost creature may not save all of it’s kin nor save it’s species but it makes all the difference to that individual.
This horrific culture we are trapped in won’t voluntarily change its ways. It won’t suddenly realize it’s built on a foundation of lies, conceit and disrespect. It shall keep on its whirlwind path of destruction until the Earth ends it via resource constraints and climatic impediments.
We don’t know how the future will pan out, in which direction the disintegration will fall or at what velocity but without compassion and connection to the natural world there can be no rebuilding of a human community of any viability.
The crumbling city buildings, the monuments to this cultures ego, the ever spreading suburbs, a monument to the rampant over-population and the collapsing wind turbines, monuments to this cultures desperation to preserve it’s false sense of invincibility will slowly be consumed by Nature. Humanity, if it survives long term will no longer have the means of domination to poison, bulldoze or torment the non-human world.
Co-operation, union and kinship with the natural world is and will be the only sustainable way of life.
